We’re an industry, and an organization, on the move.

No longer a haphazard dot on the map somewhere between Boston and New York City, Rhode Island has carved out, with a fork and knife, a well-deserved international reputation for culinary treats, must-see attractions, world-class lodging and a collision of sights and sounds that are uniquely Little Rhody.

The elegance of Newport, resplendent in Gilded Age grace. The vibrancy of Providence, our Capital City. The gateway of Warwick, and the getaway of Block Island. The thrills of the hills named Federal, College, Smith and Watch. The historical significance of the Blackstone Valley, which is forever tied to the birth of the America’s Industrial Revolution. And that’s just a start to a nearly infinite list. The Ocean State may be small in size, but we cover a lot of real estate.

So, who is, what is the RI Hospitality Association?

We are quintessential Rhode Island, and we are the association that represents more the than 600 foodservice, hotels, vendors and hospitality members. Decades before the onset of the popular TV show, the RI Hospitality Association was, and remains, The Voice.

We entertain, we dine, we promote Eat, Stay and Play in RI. We are restaurants, cafes, bistros, hotels, bed-and- breakfasts. Entrepreneurs, proprietors, owners, partners, managers, front of house, back of house.

We are concepts that are transformed into touch-it, feel-it realities, from trend-setting menus to renovations leading to thriving businesses; yes, an evolution revolution of sorts that has resulted in an infectious enthusiasm and pride. Our industry has garnered widespread acclaim for a continuous, innate ability to innovate and reinvigorate; we invest in neighborhoods by infusing capital, stimulating economic activity and spreading our common passion throughout the community.

We formulate partnerships, promote, train, educate, inform and create value while pursuing a stated cause of Prosperity, Prominence and Participation. Ably assisted by the RI Hospitality Education Foundation, our industry creates jobs that often lead to rewarding careers. We offer support programs, such as ServSafe, RI Food Management, RI Hospitality Training Academy and ProStart High School Culinary and Management Competition, (where our local teams thrive at the highest levels of national competition).

We are specifically designed to answer questions, untangle the sometimes tangled webs of regulatory confusion, publicize collective good deeds and invest in the future. We solve problems, frequently by creating a forum of discussion with a vast array of members sharing common experiences.

We are sustainable, we are green. And we are cooperative as well as inclusive.

We are a true portal, offering an array of services designed to connect and communicate: events, networking opportunities, seminars covering an array of topics. Plus efficiencies, often in the form of discounts generated through group purchasing.

We recognize our peers through vehicles such as the Stars of the Industry, a truly memorable affair that rivals the sizzle of the Oscars or Grammys as an evening of unabashed celebration. Further, the Stephen P. Marra Memorial Scholarship, named in honor of on our former Chairman and beloved restaurateur, was created "to assist local students and adult learners to realize their potential in the hospitality industry."

Most of all, we are driven by and dependent on you, our valued and respected members. Together with our passionate and dedicated Board of Directors, we serve you -- proudly. So, please, become involved, be engaged and participate. Individually, we’re capable of only so much; together, we’re capable of so much more.

Thank you.
